Hello and Introduction

Hello MZ riders...
I wanted to introduce myself before I ask some questions. My name is Paul and I am from the U.S., Kentucky specifically, but I currently work in Italy. Information in English on MZs is virtually impossible to find in the US. As you know, MZs are pretty rare in the states. I do speak a little German but it's not very good. I'm glad I found this forum with some English speakers and as I said I have a lot of questions.
A little about my small collection. I bought my first MZ, a TS 250A, almost 15 years ago when I lived in Germany for work. Since now I'm back in Europe for a while I wanted to pick up some more MZ military models. I recently bought a nice '87 ETZ 250A. I have been a militaria collector for over 25 years so I am naturally attracted to the military MZs. As such I have many questions about MZ military models. I also have a civilian 1974 TS 150.
Again thanks for letting me join, I look forward to learning all I can...Paul

Hi Paul,
nice to see more and more members from abroad - here's a warm welcome from the middle of Germany.
Please be so kind and tell us some more about your collection, about you and about the motorbike scene in the states.
Pics are welcome too.
Regards,
Uwe

Guys thanks for the warm welcome. Its exciting to talk to other MZ owners, as I said there are not that many back home.
I want to add photos, but I regularly used photobucket to do that on websites/forums. Since they changed their policy a few weeks ago and now you have to pay to use them, what photo hosting forum are people using now? Or is there photo hosting on this site, I have seen some that do?

Welcome American Paul!
You can upload some pictures here. When you create an new post, please look below there is in the section "Dateiname" - (in English - file name) a button named "Durchsuchen" (...search in your files...) and an other Button "Datei hinzufügen", means add your file. Now you can send your own pictures. I hope I could help you a little bit.

Yes, the new policy sucks, but you can use the direct upload to this board. If you write a new text you'll find a box underneath: "Dateianhang hochladen". Try it.
I'm not sure, will you see an english version?
Here's a pic, thats what I mean:

Hi Paul
I think there's no need to explain him the german descriptions. In the user control panel is the possibilty to change the complete board into english

Welcome, Paul!
You can find some information about MZ - also the military models - here
www.miraculis.de and also in our forum in our knowledge base
kb.php?c=139Most of it is in German, but maybe it helps anyway.
Your bikes look fine!

Again thanks everyone...if I have a question to ask about Military MZs should I do it here or on the Sondermodelle sub category? I can translate the question into German, so there is more an audience to see it...am I correct in my thinking?
A photo of my ETZ and TS 150...

Well, you can try it... you´re correct in your thinking that there´s more audience to read your questions, than here (because some of our forum members don´t read here - they don´t understand other languages. But they might have knowledge about NVA machines which remains veiled).
I would say, try it. We will see.

yes, of course, do that. It's how Martin sayes, you'll reach a wider audience in this way.
You've got nice bikes.
Another question, the electric installation at your garage, that's really strange
it's somehow between surface mounted and buried wiring, isn't it?

Muffle, its the way the Italians do it I guess. There are some very interesting construction techniques here for sure, it wouldn't fly in the states. The apartment building I live in is over 500 years old, it was built in the early 1500s. I'm sure for most of its life it was a horse stable, lights and wiring are a new thing.
