SuperElastik Umbau in Wildschrei's Schrauberbuch

Hallo,
I'm sorry I have to post this in English but my German really isn't good enough to ask what I want to know.

This is also the problem with the "Search/Suchen", I don't know what to type when looking for the answer.

I was reading Dirk Wildschrei's Gelbes Schauberbuch and on the left side bottom of page 252 he is talking about an "Umbau auf die vierte Anschlussstrebe" but I cannot figure out what he means by that.

It reads:

What exactly is he talking about and more importantly: does anyone have any pics or drawings of this modification ?

Thanks in advance,

Max

PS: I do read German so no need to answer in English. When I don't understand a German word I'll just ask ( for instance: what is a "Widerlager ? )

Hi Max,

I don't have a picture, but I've seen one in reality. This "vierter Anschluss" is an adjustable strut (Length adjustable by a thread), which connects the cross clamp for the front strut with the lower frame area, where the footrests are connected to the frame. "Widerlager" is "abutment" in English, means, the force from the side car frame (cross clamp) is applied into the frame at the "Widerlager". Hope this helps a little bit...

Andreas

Hi Max,

my ETZ-Gespann has such a 4er-Anschluß from Wildschrei/Didt. The hole thing, speak Gespann (Sorry of my terrible English), is stiffer.
Tomorow i will take some pictures of these konstruktion. Now it´s to late.

Schöne Grüße

Rainer

You guys are the best, thanks !!

@ Urban: thanks for the offer of calling me but these pics say it all, I have something to do again.

I see Jens' connection is a lot more forward from the "fussrasten" than the other pics ( underneath the engine ) and it also looks you've got another "support" running forward ( the small metal strip on the top right in the pics )?

I gather you are satisfied with this set-up ?

Max

I did run a solid steel bar (round, 12 mm diameter) from the front engine bolt to one of the four bolts where the front sidecar connector is fixed to the frame.

Just because I found out that in sharp bends the chair was moving about 1 cm from left to right.

This is basically what is meant by "vierter Anschluss". Three connections from sidecar to motorcycle frame is theoretically enough, but the front one is very long and soft, so it improves the handling a lot to add another connection there.

Easy on an ES model, which has a frame tube under the engine. Somewhat more difficult on later models due to the elastic engine suspension - there a fourth connection would have to be longer to connect to some solid bit under/behind the engine.

The picture shohs my solution on the ES250/1:
