I looked at this bike yesterday and might buy it. It's beautiful and fast. Any forum members have experience with the Wankel? Empfehlung gut oder schlecht? Danke

i have never seen the w2000 in my life in germany.
-> very very rare bikes and therefore very,very,very,very,very,very -> not existing spare parts, i guess
if you want some nice decoration for your living room or your collection, ok.
if you want to ride and maintin it ... dont buy it

Warum sollte man die Wankel nicht kaufen? Das ist doch ein super Teil und steht nicht an jeder Ecke. Auf der Motorrad Classic in Sinsheim stehen jedes Jahr mehrere und die laufen alle.
Also nach dem Marktwert fragen und wenns passt, warum nicht?

there are virtually *no* spare parts available. so you have to be a pretty good engineer or an even better net-worker ;)
great bikes nevertheless, and a challenge for those who seek it ;)

Ein Freund hat noch zwei davon. Tolle Maschinen aber sehr teuer. Für komplette Restaurationsprojekte werde 3-4 Tausend € aufgerufen.

norton, hercules (sachs), vanveen (citroen), suzuki, mz (ifa), maico (not sure they managed a running engine), bsa, motoprom!1!!, yamaha, kawasaki, amc? and honda.

@ donny: buy it! i think you have never ever a chance to buy one of this beautyful bikes! the Hercules IG have lot´s of dokuments and maybe can help you to find spareparts, if you need. i know the Canadian General Hercules Dealer, maybe he can help you too. i think the first production lot was not so god, but the second was great. Sachs ( this was the company who build the engine ) changed many parts of the engine.

buy it and go with your wife to a candlelight dinner!

Wow! I knew about the Nortons and Suzukis, but not the rest. That twin rotor Norton Classic is a beauty.

Letzte Woche erst wieder, ich seh die eigentlich recht oft. Aber ich fahr ja auch öfter auf Oldietreffen
Kilometerleistungen sind auch nicht so niedrig wie du wohl glaubst. Die Dinger halten nämlich!

That´s the point: typical engine für Ski-doos,
knowledge and spare parts therefore should not be the biggest problem.

And, a friend (owning an RX-7 Turbo) told me this:
As long as the "cylinder" liner (the Trochoide?) does not have markings from a clattering sealing-strip
there should be no problem.
Maybe you should replace the sealing strips (if not done by the rider before) by modern ones (maybe from Mazda?!) due to the fact that meanwhile some made of very good materials are available.

So, I´d say: buy, buy, buy!
The W2000 is a very nice and unusual bike - and even fitted with stainless steel parts.

die erste serie war nicht so der hit was die haltbarkeit angeht. die wankel-treiber grüßten sich wohl immer mit abgespreizten fingern, anzahl der finger stand für die anzahl der verrauchten motoren
in der zweiten serie war alles ok, aber da war der ruf schon ruiniert. ich glaube es wurden mehrere hundert tausend wankelmotoren von sachs gebaut, für stamo und skidoo etc.
wurde übrigens auch in der dt.geländemeisterschaft erfolgreich eingesetzt, OHNE gebläse! und hat gehalten

also waren schon nicht schlecht die dinger

shit ! yeah, the fu...g collectors. here in germany we have the same problems. I know people with huge collections and the bikes was never ridden in the last 10 years.
but, you must looking foreward, the next one is not far

Ja derschonwieder, the damn collectors are everywhere. I just sold my 1975 Husqvarna 360CR Mikkola Edition that I did not ride anymore (pic below) to a collector in Italy for a good price. Collectors buy any motorad for too much money. I hope that who buys the Hercules Wankel rides it on nice days and it's not sitting a museum somewhere.



Also Stefan I received an email from your friend Helmut "Herr Speedy" in Canada. He is quite a man and a great rider still. He predicted the Wankel would go for a lot of $$. I think he is correct.

Seit wann fragt man bei Oldtimern nach der Höchstgeschwindigkeit? Zumal bei solch einem seltenen Exoten?
Außerdem sollte eine gut eingestellte W2000 über 140 km/h laufen ...

Ich grabe diesen alten Fred mal aus...

Gestern klingelt mein Telefon:
Eine sehr freundliche, sympathische Stimme fragt mich nach meinem bei Ibah-KA eingestellten Beiwagenbootoberteil und ob ich den gebogenen, rohrförmigen "Kantenschutz" dazu noch habe und verkaufen würde.
Ja, hab ich, ja super, nehm ich kommt zurück. Wir schreiben ein wenig hin und her, dann stellt sich heraus, das der Papenburger Gastronom SE-Beiwagen an seine Hercules Wankelmopeds tüddelt.
Und er schickt ein Bild von seiner Sammlung...doch seht selbst...

Ich habe die immer beim Fischereihafen-Rennen in Bremerhaven gesehen und vor allem gehört ! Schon büschen was von einer Turbine bei der Vorbeifahrt...
So auf den Strassen unterwegs eher nie eine gesehen...
