Seeking Compromise

I have 1974 TS 250 / 0.
Where I live I drive quite a bit in the 64kph to 75 kph range.
As you well know this is not a good speed for some of the 4-speed M Z's. To compound this difficulty it is very hilly terrain where we live now.

My question is, would it be useful to go to one tooth smaller sprocket on the front to get more drivability in this speed range.

I rarely ever have to go over 96 kph.

Hello Michael!
Of course it is possible to change the sprocket. I did this on my ETZ (5-speed) and now I can use the fifth gear on rural roads.
But you have to consider that you need a sprocket for the 4-speed engines, which has another width than the ones for 5-speed engines.

hi -

i run my four speed es 250/2 on a smaller sprocket. 65 - 75 never felt 'wrong' in any way ...
why not try it out, might as well tick your boxes.

TS 250 mit 4Gang-Getriebe hat ein 21er Ritzel. Versuche ein 20er Ritzel. :ja:

Hello, a gear with 20 teeth could fit well. As already mentioned pay attention to the 4-speed version.

I love the change.
It has been a great adjustment.
There has been no perceived detriment to the top speed of the motorcycle. But then again the authorities are very very strict about high-speed driving in the Old Dominion of Virginia.
So no flat-out out chest on the fuel tank high speed runs like I did in Missouri.
This bike TS250/0, is better suited to the mountains rather than the open Plains
