Hi guys!

I come from Croatia, and I have some questions about different cylinders that look almoust the same(ES/ETS/TS),are they compatible together with ES 250/2 3=10 head or 1=10 head?

This is the 05-42-062 ES 250/2 cylinder s16 from 1971.g:
Bild

The 05-42-062 made in 1976,Is this the TS cylinder? Can it be fitted to ES 250/2 engine and ES 250/2 cylinderhead?
Bild

The red arrow marks the˝ring˝ that the 05-42-062 ES 250/2 cylinder s16 from 1971. doesn´t have...this cylinder was bought at ebay.de titled as an ES TS ETS 250 cylinder...
This 76 cylinder fits the TS 250 cylinderhead really nice, the diamater of the ˝ring˝on the cylinder and the circular pit on the 250 ts cylinder head are the same:

Bild

If this ˝ring˝ was precisely removed ,could then this 76 cylinder be compatible with ES 250/2 3=10 or 1=10 cylinder Heads??

Few Questions about cylinderheads...

Bild

The area marked with red is lower than the area marked with blue colors...why?For cooling maybe?
On the cylinder head of 250 TS the surface is all straight...

Thanks for answer

Dear Goldilox,

yes you´re right the cylinders and also the cylinder heads of TS and ES for 250ccm are quit different in regard to there common sealing area. The parts of ETS are the same used in the ES.
The reason for is that at TS a sealing made from metal is used which is fixed on the right position with this ring you´ve measured with your caliper.
The sealing at ES and ETS is only assured by direct contact of this two units. To reach this and to avoid decreasing pressure the coloured areas at the ES cylinder head are required so that the contact only will be done at the inner blue circle. At TS this is given by the used sealing so the cylinder head can be straight.

For information also the cylinder with the cylinder head of the TS can be used on the ES engine.

Good luck and best regards.

Thanks for answering...so it means that the piston rods on ES,ETS and TS are the same??
If piston rods are the same then this 76 cylinder with the ring, needs to be shorter(comparing it with 71 ES 250/2 cylinder without the ring) at some section for the dimension of the ring(about 1.5 mm)... :?

Some of my questions are still not answered  ...

The Cylinder of the ES 250/2 with 19HP has to be fitted with a cylinderhead wich is marked with "MM250/2 e=10:1" underneath the lowest ridge. The Cylinder with the centerring has to be fitted with the cylinderhead which is marked with "MM 250/3 e=10:1". Both cylindera uses an equal rod and piston.

Yes, the shown cylinderhead has to be fitted with a cylinder without centerring.

OK,just a few questions :P

The area marked with red is lower than the area marked with blue colors...WHY?
For cooling maybe?

The same pattern on some older Mz cylinderheads:

Has anyone sucessfully modified TS Cylinder with ring(like mine from 76) and installed it with original ES cylinderhead on ES 250/2 Engine??(The links you gave me are great but my translator /bing/google doesnt always translate in a meaningfull way...)
What about height/location of intake and exhaust channel on this 2 different cylinders(71 and 76)?Does it vary?
If I removed the ring precicly and installed a spacer with the same thickness as ring...?

Thanks for answering...

hi -

i'm just about to do the same -
and asked a friend who's a mechanic as he's got a 5 tonne press. can't be asked trying my luck with a hammer and a chisel ;)
these f*ckers sit in there solidly.
the bushes available, at least in my case, come oversized and need to be worked to the correct measure with a reamer.

best, max ~:)
