mediocre charge rate...Resolved

Hello again,
I am hoping to be able to adjust the voltage regulator on 1974 ts250 - 0.

Charges at a rate of 6. 1 volt at 2500 rpm, was wishing to raise that to 6.3 volts.

My genuine MZ manual doesn't detail about a judgment. It lists the gaps but it doesn't tell which gaps correspond to the measurements given.

no word for manual adjustment, just a phrase take to a specialist. so

Here I am, I have gone to the specialists.
Thank you.
Michael

Hello Michael , you can download the Electricmanual from Lothar , he is one from our Electrikspecialists . It is an PDF ; may be you can translate this . Look to page 22-24 . ;D

Maybe it´s easier to look at this figure:

Move the aluminium tongue (blue point) to change the voltage. But be careful this aluminium tongue breaks easily.
In your case it is more recommended to insert a narrow paper sheet like red arrow shows. Doing so the voltage will increase.
Watch the effect by your DVM and insert as many sheets until the voltage will have been climbed up on the desired value.
Be patient the voltage jumps often too high or too low.

But note: There are a few other reasons for loo low voltage at battery terms. Check all cable connectors between regulator,
ignition switch in the lamp, fuses and battery. Often the main switch or the fuses are responsible for a non-acceptable voltage drop.

Also note that the nominal voltage at battery terminals is 6,8V ... 7,0V at about 3000min-1 and full light (6,3V is too less).

Regards
Lothar

unless you are not keen of using the original regulator use the Vape electronic regulator.

as Lothar said, bevore changing the regulator, start cleaning/check the cable shoes and the fuse panel, normally you will be loosing some 1/10V there.

checking the connections is relatively easy.
I use a voltmeter digital and look for a voltage drop when straddling a connection.
Quick and easy.
.....so
the accumulated thickness of the paper is to indicate the amount I need to bend the aluminum tab?
it appears to be delicate. That's okay I have a light touch.

*****************************edit 5/9/15; charging at a nice fat 7.1 volts at 2500 rpm now.
Thank you. ****************************************************************

Correct. But you can also leave the paper there if the voltage is OK. It saves the aluminium tongue for unnessecary bending.

That's great!
Thank you for a "non-invasive" fix.
