Hi guys.
On this forum there are a few REALLY interesting topics about installing a TS 250/1 5 speed engine into/on ES 250/2 body.
Also there is topic about cons and pros of 4 speed (es 250/2 or ts 250/0) and 5 speed ( ts 250/1).

Since my german is bad,and my translator does not always translate everything so I can understand it; I have a few questions...

Is it worth to install 5 speed engine on es 250/2 WITHOUT trailor?
Would the max speed increase? The fuel consumption should be lower at higher km/h?Crousing speed would increase?

Which gearbox or engine is more durable? 4 speed or 5 speed? Some cons and pros on english please

Thanks for answer

:gruebel: What is a trailor, with reference to a motorcycle? I only know these trailors: http://www.otozhaf.com/automobiles/2014 ... 25952.html

The benefit of a 5 speed engine is the easier maintenance compared to a 4 speed engine. You can change the shaft seal rings of the 5 speed engine without a complete disassembly of the motor.

And the 5 speed engine is better for sidecar use.
The maximal speed ist equal to the 4 gear speed engine.

Thank you for your answers

Ok,I meant a sidecar,not a trailor

Crusing speed should increase also with 5 gear gearbox...

On my ES 250/2 I consider good crusing speed at about 80-90 km/h in 4.gear(relativly low rpm)

While according to this dyno test:

TS 250/1 should have a good crusing speed at about 90-100 km/h

80 km/h as average speed is o.k. for a sidecar.90-100 km/h is the top speed under optimal conditions.
Even with the 250/1 engine this should not be more.
And by the way, I remember that Croatia is not flat. You have some mountains :-)
So the good thing about the 5 gear engine is not the speed, but the better handling in non-flat areas.....

If you find you are going 110 to 120 kph should you back off ?
Is one in danger of causing damage running this hard ?
