I’m got a problem some of you might have experience with?

I bought a set of knee rubbers in 2009 from a UK supplier for my ETS250 Trophy Sport.

I’ve tried 3 different adhesive’s to glue them to the fuel tank. None of which work. Within 24 hours I get the same problem. The glue turns to liquid and the rubber panels begin to fall off.

Before fitting the rubbers, I cleaned both the tank and rubbers with detergent and a grease removing spirit used by professional painters.

My preferred method has always been to use double sided sticky tape, which I’ve used successfully on this same ETS250 for the MZ tank badges, so I know it’s not a problem with the paint or clear lacquer used on the fuel tank.

There must be some sort of chemical within the rubber which is leaching out and dissolving the adhesive.

I’ve used 3 different adhesive techniques:
Double sided tape.
Evo-Stick - contact adhesive.
No More Nails - builders adhesive.

I do not want to continue experimenting with adhesives, as I may end up destroying the paint on the tank.

Has anyone experienced the same problem?

Can anyone recommend a supplier of Kniekissen which they know are made of a rubber compound which does not cause these problems?

Ich kaufte eine Reihe von Kniekissen im Jahr 2009 von einem britischen Anbieter für meine ETS250 Trophy Sport.

Ich habe versucht, 3 verschiedene Klebstoffs zu kleben sie auf den Tank. Keiner von denen zu arbeiten. Innerhalb von 24 Stunden bekomme ich das gleiche Problem. Der Leim wird flüssig und die Gummi-Panels beginnen zu fallen.

Vor dem Einbau der Beläge, reinigte ich sowohl den Tank und Kautschuke mit Spülmittel und einem Fett entfernen Geist von professionellen Malern verwendet.

Meine bevorzugte Methode war immer, doppelseitiges Klebeband, die ich erfolgreich bin auf dem gleichen ETS250 verwendet für die MZ Tank Abzeichen zu verwenden, damit ich weiß, es ist nicht ein Problem mit der Farbe oder Klarlack auf den Tank eingesetzt.

Es muss irgendeine Art von chemischen innerhalb der Gummi, die Auslaugung und Auflösung des Klebers.

Ich habe 3 verschiedene Klebetechniken:
Doppelseitiges Klebeband.
Evo-Stick - Kontaktkleber.
No More Nails - Bauherren Kleber.

Ich will nicht weiter experimentieren mit Klebstoffen, als ich Ende Mai zu einer Zerstörung der Lack auf dem Tank.

Hat jemand Erfahrung das gleiche Problem?

Kann jemand empfehlen, ein Anbieter von Kniekissen von denen sie wissen, sind aus einer Gummimischung, die nicht dazu führt, diese Probleme aus?

Ich habe keinen pesönlichen Erfahrungen, aber in anderen Threads steht 3M 950 (eine Art Doppelseitiges Klebeband). Man kann es bei der Dr. Eberhardt GmbH kaufen. Vielleicht kann noch jemand von seinen persönlichen Erfahrungen mit 3M950 berichten?

The tape I have used is 3M. I do not think the tape or the adhesive is the problem. I think it is the rubber compound and the oils in the rubber. I have never experienced this problem with any other rubber components, just this one pair of Kniekissen.

No tape, use Glue.
Pattex maybe..

New knee rubbers you can get at guesi´s shop for example

I shall buy new rubbers. I have tried 3m and Scotch tape and 2 other quality glues. All had the same problem,

What I wanted to know, was if anyone else had experienced this problem?
Was there a batch of Kniekissen produced which were made from poor quality rubber? If so, can this problem be avoided in future?

Has anyone had this same problem with their Kniekissen?
If so, where did they buy them?

You can slices a message to guesi (he is a member) and ask. I´m sure any members (I also, but my ETS is still not painted, I have not yet installed the rubbers) have bought his knee rubbers there.

I also used a tape from 3M for my tankpads from GüSi, but it´s not really a "doppelseitiges Klebeband", it´s transparent with an also transparent supporting film and the consistency is rather like used chewing gum.
It glues like hell.



No problems with it or the tankpads in the last 6 years.
