MZ 125 RT Disassembly HELP!

Hi guys,

Sorry to bother you from Bulgaria, and not in German, but I have a problem and I need your help with it.

I have an 125 rt that I've restored almost completely, but I have a problem disassembling the front forks. I can find how to remove the (Hohlschraube in German) I think.

Can someone walk me trough the disassembly and assembly procedure for the forks please.
Also I tried to bolt back the shocks to the triple tree with the bolts on the top of the shocks, but the bolts can't grab onto something, why is that? Is there a part inside that moves freely or what?

Please help me out,

If someone also have some pictures of the shock and the components and the way they go together please include that as well.

Thank you,
George

Welcome here!

You are sure that the fork is assembled with these "Hohlschrauben"? Later versions there have a circlip  What kind of MZ RT is yours, /1 /2 or /3?

If the bolds on top should grab, you have to compress the fork.

Mine is 125/4

It has the round circlip below the hohlschrauben and I removed it trough the small round hole on the side of the shock's body, and that's it.
Now I tried to dissasemble it but to no avail, it will not move (the hohlschrauben that is).
Also I tried to compress the shock and screw the bolt in but nothing happens, the bolt just spins and will not grab onto anything. I wonder if maybe I used the wrong bolt diameter ( I tried to fit an 8mm bolt).

Thats the rigt way, on your fork there is no "Hohlschraube". Next step is to remove the grease nipple. With a little luck you can disasambele the fork now, in worst case you need a lot of power and it´s possible you hav to use heat.

So I should remove the grease nipple first and then just pull to get it out?

Ok, and for the assembly I just need to compress the shock and get the bolt in. How about the size of the bolt, is 8mm correct.
I ask you because I've disassembled the bike 5 years ago and cant remember which bolt is for the forks.

Yes

Not correct, you have to use M10x65 :!:

Here you can find a spare part list fom RT125/2. The fork you find on table 11, it´s identical in most parts to your fork, only the assemble by circlip is different.

Mz 125/4 is what it says on the metal plate behind the triple tree.

I'll post some, but the pictures are not pretty ;)

I'll also look at the plate and verify that is 125/4 for you.
If you're interested I'll post the serial numbers as well.

Thanks for the welcome :)
The serial# is actually the normal length, I just covered the last digits and left only the first four visible.
I,ve assembled the front suspension and will post the pictures soon.

You know, I've never could understand how exactly it is done (to insert images that is) in the post.
By the way I've just completed majority of the work on the custom muffler I'm building, will make some photos and will post them tomorrow.

Thank you for pointing that out, in fact it is listed in Ebay as of yesterday.
As I pointed in the auction I need to get this project sold so that I can finance the next one, and sure you are more than welcome to bid :D on it.
I'd be glad if the bike goes to a member of the MZ comunity.
