Rotax Oil Catch Can

Sorry for the English. When riding on trips I would sometimes get oil and condensation in the airbox that ran dripped down on the toolbox. Not much, just a few drops. The oil was coming in the airbox through the crankcase breather tube that connects to the airbox here:

I read that Harleys, Ducatis, and many other bikes have this problem and they were solved by using an oil catch can. I also checked this with the Tom Wood people and they said a small amount of oil blowby was natural for the Rotax. So I installed a small 2" catch can on the frame and placed it inline with the crankcase breather hose.

It has a draincock on the bottom I use every 500km or so and 2-4 drops of oil come out. But no more oil in the airbox at all.

Parts List:

1 - Aluminum "stash" canister from here: http://store.superpiece.com/servlet/-strse-177/2%22-Small-Polished-Aluminum/Detail
2 - 1/8" NPT x 5/16" barb elbow fittings
1 - 1/8" NPT draincock

Total cost: about $12.00. Does anyone with the Rotax 500 engine get oil in the airbox? This modification will help.

Take the tube and let it trop of the chain. No need a Scotoiler.

Then you get unfiltered air back into the crankcase - nicht gut.
