So , see last post

I have been enjoying the TS250/0 very much on the mountain roads in the south end of western Virginia. Its like riding the wind.
I did myself a favor by going to a LED headlight, pilot light, and taillight. Bike does not struggle to run at night at stoplight with blinlers on. Battery stays charged a healthy amount. 6.6 to 6.8 volts resting.

My problem is I want to install LED directionals. I have spent a lot of money trying to find a directional relay that will work on LEDs and 6 volt.

I have a handful of 6 volt electronic relays. But none of them well fire off an LED lamp. Can you help?
I have run out of resources on this side of the ocean.
Regards,
Michael

I could get you one of those and mail it to you, but parcels to the US of A are really expensive from Germany.

A quick search on ebay.com for "LED flasher 6V" brought up lots of offers from China/Hongkong with cheap shipping.

E.g. https://www.ebay.com/itm/263383119375

I don't know anything about your skills, but maybe you can solder it on your own. A TLC555 and an IRF4905 will work well :D I can draw you a circuit diagram later.

Is there just no demand for 6V relays that aren't sensitive to load in the U.S.? I somehow can't imagine that nothing's there to be had.

If there is a no load 6 volt relay available in the USA I have not run across it yet. Perhaps I should take some shopping tips from my wife. :- )

Spending 10 to 15 Euro for shipping a package halfway around the world doesn't put me off. This sounds like the cleanest and easiest solution.

And I can solder very well.
I have repaired radios,..so if at TLC555 and IRF 4905 you speak of are commercially available I can certainly put them together.

Thank you very much for your help.
regards,
Michael

Hi,

1. This one you can use with LED or normal lamps as well as for 6V or 12V.
(Maybe you can replace the old vmos transistor IRF1010 with a new logic level MOSFET... )

2. When using LED directionals you have to use a LED-indicator-lamp too!

3. You must have a look to the double function of your combined (LED-)indicator-lamp for loadcontrol and direction in the TS250!
Look at the the lower left corner of this diagramm.
Four schottky diods are used to ensure this double function when using with an electronic relay.

Harald

I have a few of these. They don't work on LEDs. If I hook a small lamp up to Circuit the drawers enough to make everything work fine.

This website has no option for shipping to America. I sent the man an email questioning the availability.

perhaps you could find out or estimate shipping from your location?

Because this motorcycle is an import to the United States by way of England,
the load indicator functions have been removed from the directional functions.

In other words the generator lamp is independent of the blinkers. So that is not an issue.
It is the only the simplest circuit with a switch. There's the rub.

As the printing on the relay says "LED", supposingly it will be working with LED lamps. I have sent a technical request anyhow, and asked, if the German, Dutch and Italian versions are correct, or the English and French versions, which say "not for LED". I'm still waiting for the answer.

Concerning shipping I have checked the DHL website.
As small parcel (without insurance) it will cost 16 Euro, estimated shipping time 10 -15 working days.
As an insured package it will cost about 38 Euro, estimated shipping time 10 -12 working days.
From my experience with shipping from or to the US, customs will consume most of the time.

Regards
Andreas

If the flashers that you already have are working with an additional light bulb, you could of course just add a resistor for additional load. I'd start with 10 Ohms which will consume ~4 Watts, but if this helps, it would probably be my solution for the problem ;-)

This man kindly wrote me a reply back immediately but unfortunately it was negative. He stated that the liability laws in USA and Canada prohibited him from Shipping a 6 volt relay into the United States
...... are you kidding me? liability for a 6 volt relay?

A co-worker is traveling to the US in the next weeks to visit his daughter. I'll ask him if he will take one of this relays with him and ship it from New York or Mobile Alabama. That would probably be the cheapest way of getting one to you.

But I'll only be in the office on monday, because today is a german public holiday and right now everyone is going to Egon's Forum meetup (Frühjahrestreffen), me too ;-)

Okay. Thank you. Let me know what you need from me. I do PayPal also if that helps.

Hi Michael,
unfortunately he left for the US already last weekend, so it's too late to put something into his suitcase :-(
I did not remember the whole holiday schedule of my department correctly...

If you already have one of those chinese versions that do not work well with LEDs, maybe just putting a small resistor (12 Ohm 5 Watts or similar, something like https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DEYXQLS/ or even higher Ohm values, just small enough to make the flasher work) on each side might be the easiest solution (as both flasher cables are at the directional control lamp in the instruments, maybe that would be a good place to put the two resistors, too.

I'm pondering that for solution ...it will not take much more than a 1 watt pea lamp.

Thank you for your kind attention.

With pleasure. Great that the seller has sent himself.

Have the same parts here with me, but I don´t dare to install them anymore. Do not want punishment from the police like Achim(Trabimotorrad). How it is in US, if you install LED's, is it allowed? Do you have to worry about an inspection?

The inspectors are for the most part hands off here..... unless you are acting in an anti-social manner.

Some big cities focus on emissions.
Most... not so much.

If we ever had an organization like the TUV there would probably be several riots.

But I should know, we are a bunch of cowboys.

As long as you do not roast the sheriff's eyeballs, they leave you alone.
