Painting complete and tank/seat set temporarily. Still need the ROTAX and MZ decals applied and clearcoated then mount permanently the seat and tank. I stupidly cracked the left side clutch cover :( and need a good usable replacement. Does anyone have a left side clutch cover assembly, Rotax part number 210-851 for sale? Danke alles

Thank you Torsten. I just received a call from a Rotax parts guy out in California; he had a spare cover so I got it. I was a big dummkopf to break it. :wall: :wall: But that's how you learn - by making mistakes.

UPDATE.

Finally received the correct Rotax clutch cover from California. It was old, nasty, scratched, but solid. Was cleaned it up and sent out for polishing/powder coat - again. The problem was the kick starter detent and return spring incorrectly installed. MAJOR PITA to do (Pain in the ass) to install. You need 3 hands with 10 fingers each. Found an excellent post here with pictures:
http://mz-forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=97&t=46473

Very much help! Danke, especially to Der Bruder and Memme250. :flehan:

The correct ROTAX and MZ decals are applied on the Singapore Suzuki petrol tank and all clear coat was redone. The tank and seat assembly are now mounted well and strong, ready to go. Thank you all for the comments (good and bad); they all helped me. And thank you all for this super MZ forum, even if I can not understand most even with Bablefish translator. But I love the pictures you always post, GREAT help for me.

Hi Donny,

I'm flashed at all - very, very well done. I've seen your pics and I'm a little bit green-eyed  Got a question, have you got a code, a name or what else from the colours? Looks pretty good.
Think it's a goody to have a native English speaker at the forum - so we (I :P ) can push up our Englisch skills. Thats a classical win-win situation.
So what, ride and screw on, looking forward to your next project.

Danke gentlemen for your kind comments.

Torsten, I'll get some more pics soon if it ever stops raining here. It's been going on for a few days and looks like several more of the same coming. The riding position is very comfortable, better than before, and am looking forward to some long trips on it. Pics soon...

Uwe, thanks for you and the esteemed forum members for accepting this non-German-speaking dumbass and helping me out so much with this strange MZ Rotax bike I've come to love. We have an MZ forum here in the US, but I'm sad to say the expertise regarding these great machines is sorely lacking.

Ralle, I would have done some things differently too, including the tail, but it does look better in person and is fairly well balanced out with the bigger Suzuki tank. But overall I'm satisfied for this first effort. The unusual MZ 500 frame is difficult to work with. It looks more like a Manx racer than a caffer now.

I want to find another muffler or modify; the Sebring A2 is just too quiet! I had a Ron Woods racing can on it before, but that was waaaay too loud for me. Something in the middle of those two is what I want. I do like the looks of the Sebring muffler very much on this bike. I am thinking of carefully enlarging the tiny rear outlet hole to about 50mm. This will allow better flow better and amp up the sound a bit I think. Will I have any problems doing this and what sound should I expect? I do not want to ruin a good Sebring A2 if it does not do what I want. Opinions / comments please? Thanks guys.

Moin,

I would not destroy the A2 ...

My Silverstar had a Sebring A1 mounted. Well - I do like the A2 very much (the look fits best on this bike), but it's very rare, expensive and to quite for my ears :)

Well well .. In germany you can't just plug and play any muffler you want. The TÜV/DEKRA wants to see some kind of certificate that it isn't too loud and safe to use.
Thats why I installed this one:

7826

The opinions about the thing - mostly about the look - differ very much in this forum. But hey - it's my motorcycle and it sounds very decent and powerful :)

PS: ths sticker with the EGU is not there anymore. EGU is the seller of this exaust. Producer is Sebring.

And you get the "amen" of the TÜV in germany.

There is somewhere a video with the engine running on lorchens Silverstar - iirc it was in Glesien in 2007 (?) maybe he knows the link

We also have an article in our knowledge base about different exausts on the Rotax:
Hmm but where :gruebel:

ahh!

n-joy!

Thank you kutt. Very helpful. But how do I log in to view the last three "private" videos?

Yes, cutting the A2 is the last resort. I'm looking hard for a different muffler, maybe the Supertrapp stainless steel with the 50mm inlet.

they are not on the Server and the Post is rather old :/

If you want I guess I can do a soundcheck of my Sebring (if the look isn't too heavy for you : P )

This is the Supertrapp I will probably use. It has the baffles on the end and you can add or remove the baffles to adjust the sound. I like the megaphone look. This one is only 50cm though, a bit short.

Hey Donny,

you are a free man in the USA! Use your rights and mount the Ron Wood. Yes it looks loud but you don't need to listen to it but the guy behind you :!:
Would I ever have the chance to get the approval for such a Ron Wood I definitely would use it. Look and sound is great!

:lach: Yes, I ran one for awhile but it grew annoying after a short time. Also it was difficult to jet the Bing correctly also to minimize the ear splitting after-fire when decelerating. I loved loud bikes when I was younger, the louder the better. But I must be getting old now as I don't like it much anymore. :(

Hey Donny,

nice project you have. Looks great.
If you think your Sebring A2 isn`t lound enough, you could try the Zard TPH036. Normaly installed on the new triumph twins and makes a good sound.
Can you tell me what type of excel rims you have orderd? They look phantastic!

Thanks Steff. Good looking muffler. I am looking for a "megaphone" type muffler with a 50mm inlet size so i don't have to use an adapter for the head pipe.

The Excel rims are:

FRONT: EXCEL WM2 (1.85) x 18" ALUMINUM RIM - 36 HOLE REWM21836
REAR: EXCEL WM4 (2.50) x 18" ALUMINUM RIM - 36 HOLE REWM41836
